We offer a cryptocurrency selling option for our European users (EEA), and you can get paid via a SEPA bank account or a card (VISA or MasterCard).
You may find the procedure of selling your cryptocurrency and getting paid via a bank account below.
To initiate the selling process, go to www.simplex.com and press the "Sell cryptocurrency" option or go directly to www.simplex.com/sell.
You will be taken to our checkout page, where you must select the coin you wish to sell or the amount of euros you wish to receive.
Note: Currently, we support selling only BTC and USDT-TRC20 (USDT on the TRON - TRX - network) in exchange for EUR.
Once you select the coin from the list, you will see this page with a summary of what coin is being sold, how you will get paid - via a SEPA bank transfer, and how many Euros you will receive:
After you press "Continue", you will be redirected to the email verification stage.
You must enter the email address to which a 4-digit code will be sent. Additionally, you must mark that you have read and agreed to the Terms & Conditions and click "Next".
Later on, that code must be entered in the pop-up on the screen, and you need to click "Verify".
Below is an example of what a verification email looks like. Each verification email will also contain the transaction ID:
After the email is verified, you will need to provide your personal details. This includes your first and middle name (if any), last name, phone number with the selected country code, and date of birth.
After this information is submitted and the button "Next" is clicked, you must provide information about your residence address - select the country and enter the city, street and zip/postal code.
Once that is done, you will need to verify your identity. The verification will be done live using Onfido, which specializes in secure identity verification. This information is provided on the page right before starting the process:
You will then need to select the document issuing country and the type of document that will be uploaded. Passports, ID cards and driver's licenses are accepted.
Once that is done and you press "Next", the page informing that the process needs to be done via a secure link/connection will appear:
You will need to generate a secure link to connect to Onfido in one of the three offered ways. The most convenient way to continue the process is by scanning the QR code with your phone.
Once the QR code is scanned, you must take a picture or pictures of the selected document and a selfie of yourself.
During this step, if the sale is carried out via a computer, the pictures are taken with a mobile phone, and the computer screen displays that the phone is already connected.
When the mobile phone is connected to Onfido, you are presented with a message informing you about the requirements not to close the computer's desktop, seeking help if you think that this is a scam and that the verification process will continue here.
When "Continue" is pressed, you will be presented with a disclaimer to enable camera access throughout the process. When it is enabled, the camera will turn on, and you will be able to take pictures of the document:
After taking a picture of a document and confirming its information is readable, you must take a selfie of your face. The face must fit in the contours on the camera's screen.
Once a selfie is taken and you confirm that the face is visible, you will see a message on the phone that the computer screen should be updated in a few moments, and the process will continue. Then, you will be able to upload the files to the system.
Once this is done, you will see a page where the bank account details for the funds to be transferred must be entered.
You must enter the account number (IBAN), bank name, and BIC code. Most of the time, when the IBAN is entered, the system will pre-fill the other details automatically.
Then, you also need to confirm that the account belongs to you and click "Next".:
Once this is done, you will see that the uploads and the information provided earlier are being verified.
If everything is in order, you will see a disclaimer on the screen informing you about the crucial requirements to continue the process. The disclaimer informs you only to send the previously selected amount, check the destination address carefully, and ensure that the correct network is selected when withdrawing/sending cryptocurrency from your wallet.
Once you click "Confirm", you will see the page with the summary of how much you need to send, where to send it and a QR code to transfer the coins safely and conveniently. Further instructions about what will happen are also provided on this page.
Please be informed that you need to send the cryptocurrency from your wallet to the wallet address that will be provided. You can copy and paste the address or scan the QR code from your cryptocurrency wallet.
It is essential to highlight that Simplex is not responsible if you lose your cryptocurrency due to an incorrectly entered destination wallet address. So, we strongly suggest you never manually enter the wallet address by typing it.
Once you send out the cryptocurrency, a message indicating that the payment is being processed will be displayed on the screen:
If everything is successful, a message that the coins were received will appear, and an email informing you about the successful sale (transaction) will also be sent.
Note: Once the sale is finished, a SEPA bank transfer of euros to your bank account might take up to a maximum of 2 business days (the standard SEPA transfer time). However, in most cases, it happens quicker.
